Second Opinions

You may have questions after testing or treatment done elsewhere.  We want to help you, your primary care doctor and whoever referred you to us.  The scope of Dr. Siegrist’s practice is the elective, outpatient orthopaedic care of the extremities.

If you have Neck or Back pain:  Dr. Siegrist doesn’t treat the spine, but refers patients to colleagues who specialize in spine care.

If you have all-over joint pain or fatigue:  You may need a rheumatologist to rule out a systemic inflammatory process.  Talk to your Primary Care Physician about it, or contact the Arthritis Foundation.

Whenever time and effort has already been spent trying to solve your problem, we have to know what’s been done.   You have to help us help you.

Reasons for a “Second Opinion”:  What’s the situation?

  • Ready for surgery–Workup/conservative treatment already done by a non-surgeon
  • Need confirmation that your treatment is on the right track
  • Your situation has changed: relocated, new insurance…
  • Your treating physician’s situation has changed: relocated, retired…
  • Work-up has not revealed a clear diagnosis yet
  • Treatment so far has not solved your problem
    • If you don’t understand your diagnosis, workup or treatment plan (“They ordered X and I never went back”), don’t jump ship
    • Follow up with your treating physician, write down your questions to discuss with that doctor or his/her staff
    • If your doctor thinks Dr. Siegrist can help, he/she can call to discuss your case

If your case is complicated (have already had a lot of testing and treatment), please complete this form and fax/send it in.  We’ll review it, and contact you within 1-3 days to schedule a consultation if your problem is within the scope of Dr. Siegrist’s practice.  If not, we’ll suggest an alternative.

What we can offer:

There are 5 ways to treat any joint problem: What have you tried?

With your permission, we can get the results of some XRays, MRIs from the RHIO.   You many need additional testing:  Neurology consultation/EMGs, MRI, etc…
